Hi, everyone. I’ve missed you.
Thank you for being patient with me; I had zero intention of being away for so long, but apparently, that’s how much time I needed to get myself (and this newsletter) together. I’m back because now I have more clarity, better ideas, and a lot of hope.
Real Quick (the iteration of this newsletter that most of you signed up for) is now Writer Dear. It’s my way of supporting writers through the emotional tumult of the writer life. We’re lucky to have countless resources on craft, but not so many on the emotional experience of being a writer—and my god, does that deserve attention, too.
I wish I’d had someone to help me push through the times I didn’t feel worthy of even trying. I wish I’d had someone to give me practical advice when I was nervous about trying something new. I wish I’d had someone who got it to celebrate with me.
I wish I’d had a writing coach.
Should you have me, Writer Dear is my offer to coach you wonderful writers. On the third of every month, I’ll send you an emotional support letter (think writer pep talk). Two weeks later, I’ll send you a digital care package: emotional and practical follow-up steps to the emotional support letter. (This is former-high-school-English-teacher Kerry’s time to shiiiine; I get excited whenever I think about creating these mini-assignments for you.)
Everything is free. Paid subscribers, your plans are still on pause; I’ll follow up about that later.
If you’re already subscribed to (what was) Real Quick, you don’t have to do anything to start receiving messages from Writer Dear. If someone besides me shared this message with you, hi! Wanna join us?
Writer Dear is going to be fun. I believe it’s going to be helpful. And, for the first time in a long time, it’s something I’m really looking forward to.
Let’s do this.
I love this idea! I'm so glad I'm already a subscriber.
I’m on board!
