How are we all doing, writers? If you made writing-related resolutions, I’d love to hear about them, and how they’re going so far. While I’m easing into 2024, I’ve been writing—or at least, brainstorming and drafting and reading and trying again and re-reading and just keeping the faith that my words will eventually come out right—a lot, too.
Here’s why I’m writing today: last week, in partnership with Yellow Arrow Publishing, I ran a workshop on character motivation. After my workshops, I like to send out an infographic with takeaways, resources, and reminders. As I was working on this one, I realized I should share it with you, too! So, as a random thank you for subscribing to Real Quick, please accept this cheat sheet.
Let me know if this raises any questions or if you use any of the prompts/resources! Also, if you’d like to attend a future workshop—available to any woman-identifying writer—check here! In the meantime, please continue to tell me about your writing-related wins. I’ll share them in our next issue.
See you on February 3rd.
So now I know that links in infographics are clickable when the infographic is an email attachment, but NOT embedded in Substack. I'm sorry about that!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I so enjoyed the session I took with you and am not often able to attend (or even watch recordings) as the mother of a toddler- this infographic is invaluable to me! Happy new year to you!!
