I’m reaching out
when you don’t expect to hear from me. Hi! I’m actually ambivalent about sending this, but that’s not a good enough reason to avoid taking a chance. If someone else were in a similar circumstance, I’d certainly encourage them to share this information.
So here I am, taking my own advice: I’m writing to invite you to attend a workshop I’m teaching next week. It was originally scheduled for March 2020; between my passion for the topic (maintaining the integrity of creative nonfiction) and the benefit I believe this has for writers who seek to tell the truth, I’m grateful for this renewed opportunity.
Once Upon a (True) Time will give you the tools to tell the tales from your own life. We’ll discuss how to structure plot, develop your “characters,” and decide which details to keep versus which to cut. Once Upon a (True) Time will support your honest and intriguing storytelling. It’s on Zoom, from 8:00 - 9:00 Eastern Time next Wednesday night. The workshop costs $25 to attend, which benefits Yellow Arrow Publishing, one of my absolute favorite writing organizations.
In fact, from August through November, I’m facilitating one workshop a month in partnership with Yellow Arrow. Please reply to this email if you have any questions about next week’s workshop, any of the upcoming workshops, or Yellow Arrow in general.
Speaking of replying to this email, I’d also like to take this opportunity to get to know this community better. It means so much to me that you’ve invested your time (and some of you, your money!) into supporting Real Quick. I’d like to make sure that what I write actually serves you; would you mind taking a moment to tell me about your writing history? Or maybe your writing hopes? Really, I’d love to hear anything you’re willing to share about your writing life.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you, and maybe even seeing some of you in a workshop soon!
